Vehicle Overview

This is the MGC GT. Most people know about the MGB GT which is a wonderful car. However, MG also made the GT with a six cylinder engine and that is the MGC. I guess they wanted to do just like Austin Healey that started with a four cylinder engine and then moved on to the 3-litre six. They even made the MGB GT with a V8 from Rover, but most of these are right hand drive only.

Exterior: This car had a light restoration recently and the body received new front fenders, new rocker panels and part of the rear fenders. After that, it has received a professional paint job and it has not been used much after this. All chrome details are new or refurbished. All rubber details are new. Riding on a new set of chrome spoke wheels fitted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tyres. The bulge on the hood lets you know that this is a little bit more than a regular MGB GT. It looks and sounds very cool coming down the road.

Interior: Also the interior has been refurbished with new carpets and new leather with red piping on the seats. The chrome bezel instruments are beautiful and the speedometer has just been refitted after renovation. MGC has a leather-covered steering wheel which is very nice and soft to grip. The MGC has a rather large loading space in the back and can easily fit two suitcases when you are going for that long tour.

Engine: Lifting the hood on this MGC GT is a jaw dropping experience for most classic car nerds. It is so clean and fresh you can leave your sandwich anywhere while checking the oil. All to original specification is in its green colour. Most of the parts in the brake system are new. Radiator is newly refurbished. Starter and the wiring loom are new. Certainly, so are all gaskets and hoses around the engine. MG cars always have a very firm gearbox and this one is no exception. This MGC has a manual 4 speed box with overdrive. It is a 3l straight six cylinder engine with a lot of torque. It is very comfortable on open roads and highway travel, cruising along hardly stressed at 130 km/h. I would say the character is very much like an Austin Healey 3000, but with a little bit more power. One of the previous owners had this engine sent to UK for refurbishing and a slight power upgrade.
History: This MGC GT was first registered here in Sweden on the 17th of December 1968. And there have been a total of eight owners of this car including me. Every owner is documented in chronological order with name and address. The first owner was Stockholm’s Kravattfabrik on Drottninggatan in Stockholm. The company still exists today https://stockholmkravatt.se/ and after that the car was traded in with a Renault dealer in Stockholm. It comes with a wonderful documentation both in terms of the history of the car and invoices to show what has been invested in the car. A superb example of a very cool British Grand Touring car. You will struggle to find a better one out there.
