Vehicle Overview

Cadillac Coupe 355 Series 20 for sale

This is a Cadillac 355 from 1934. These cars were produced between 1931-1935 in various models. There were many different body styles, however they all had the 5.8l V8 engine. The car we have for sale here is a Cadillac 2-door Club Coupe 355D Series 20 from 1934. The 355D model was completely restyled for the year. The Cadillac Coupe 355D series 20 was then built by Fischer.

Exterior: This prewar Cadillac Coupe is in a wonderful color combination, and it has a very nice paintwork with very small traces of use after the restoration. Big silver painted spoke wheels fitted with Firestone white wall tires. The exterior chrome pieces such as bumpers are in extraordinary condition and free from dents. Unfortunately, it is very hard to capture how majestic this car looks coming down the road. I believe mostly due to the size of the car. Although the cabin may appear small, it offers a surprisingly spacious interior. Additionally, you have the rumble seat, called “mother-in-law seat in Sweden, that will fit two people comfortably. The right-hand rear fender has two little steps to help you get in there. Then, on the right-hand side you have a little door where you can throw in your golf clubs. I think it would also be a good space for a small or medium size dog. During this time, the top of the roof was covered with a canvas. This however can not be opened. The Cadillac has been retro fitted with very discreet turn signals for your safety in today’s traffic.

Interior: When you step inside the Cadillac Coupe 355D Series 20 1934, you can immediately tell this was one of the finest cars you could buy during this time period in America. You have a huge cloth-covered couch to sit on. On the steering wheel, you will find the light controls. The oval-shaped instrument cluster filled with beautiful instruments, and most of them are still doing their job. The second part of the interior, which is the rumble seat compartment, you can only access from the outside either by opening the big lid in the back or the little door on the right-hand side. Everything in there is also neat and tidy.

Engine and mechanics: The 1934 Cadillac Coupe 355D has the 5.8l V8 engine and it produce in the region of 120hp. The power output is a lot for this time period and the three-speed gearbox is nice and firm. One common issue with most prewar cars is that the gear ratio is very low for today’s road conditions. For that reason, the owner has installed an overdrive unit that can be engaged with a switch on the dashboard. This improves the driving experience significantly since the engine has a lot of torque. The brakes are very good, and the car feels very easy to drive despite the age and size.

History: The 1934 Cadillac Coupe 355D Series 20 came from France to Sweden and was registered here for the first time in 2021. The restoration of the car was done in France. It had only smaller work and improvements done here in Sweden. In France, it was registered as a historic vehicle. It is today a wonderful car in fantastic condition ready to meet new adventures.
