Vehicle Overview
BMW 2800CS E9 1969 for sale
The BMW E9 series were produced between 1968 until 1975. The BMW E9 bodies were all produced by Karmann and the models over the years were as follows.
- BMW 2800 CS (170hp)
- 3,0 CS (180hp)
- 3,0 CSi (200hp)
- 3,0 CSL (200hp)
The BMW 2800 CS came from the 2000 CS that was made longer in the front to make space for the six-cylinder engine. The headlight design was picked up from the BMW E3 models. The production of the 2800 CS was between December 1968 until April 1971.
Exterior: The BMW 2800 CS looks very nice in white. With so much glass, everything inside the car gets very visible and it looks great with the lower seats that these early cars had. Most of the chrome details are new on this car. It has been off the road for many years and in restoration in different stages. Most of the body panels were fitted new during this restoration such as sills, front and rear wings, hood and shock towers. All rubber was replaced while assembling the car back together. Original restored BMW wheels fitted with fresh Michelin rubber.
Interior: As you can see in the pictures, this BMW 2800 CS is a car that came 98% ready after restoration. What is left to do on the inside is some small detail work like fit the door cards and cover plates on the sills. Otherwise, the seats have been reupholstered in blue high-quality leather. It has a good original carpet. The wood, instruments and dashboard are in perfect condition. Power windows up front and manual in the rear. Original seat belts for the front only. In the trunk, all the plastic and vinyl details are very good.
Engine: The engine has been completely rebuilt from the ground up. The entire engine bay looks today very nice and clean. Every detail has been refurbished and refitted. Everything around the engine such as water and fuel hoses/clamps have been replaced. The car runs perfectly today and it feels more powerful than it actually is due to very good torque. All other mechanics such as gearbox, brakes and electrics are in perfect order. The car has recently passed Technical Inspection here in Sweden. The entire front and rear ends have been off the car, sandblasted, painted and fitted with new bushings and rubber. New exhaust system, brake callipers and many other parts.
History: This car was sold new here in Sweden and the present owner had the car for 41 years! It was sold new on the 21st of July 1969 and the first owner had the car until 1975. And from 1975, it has been in the same family until today. In other words, this is not a car that has been tossed around which is often the story with BMW E9 cars. It has always been in caring hands, but now it is time to let go. It comes with a very interesting history file with documents from the very beginning. And as described before, there is a few small details left to do on this car. There has been a lot of investments made into the car. What it needs is just a little bit of time. Brand new door cards will come with the car and also some extra spare parts. Why do I not complete this BMW 2800CS? This is a car from a customer, and I personally do not have the time to work on customers’ cars. Also, there are some choices to be made for the final keeper on how to proceed to the finish line.
