Vehicle Overview
Exterior: Just gorgeous SAAB 96 two stroke in the original blue colour. Nice paintwork and very good chrome. Metal fenders all around. Wheels have been refurbished and fitted with Pirelli tyres. Good panel fit and all rubber details are in good shape. Underneath some old welding repairs can be seen. But not any rust to speak of today.
Interior: Fitted with seats from a later car with headrests. Parts of the cloth interior in this SAAB 96 two stroke have been replaced with original material and it looks today very nice and clean inside. Steering wheel and instrument cluster in like new condition. Also trunk area is very nice and clean with original carpet.
Engine: This 1962 SAAB 96 Two stroke had some upgrades. Still original engine that runs very nice. But with a 4 speed gearbox that makes you go 100 km/h without pushing the engine to hard. And with the extra speed you need stopping power. So today it has disc brakes in the front from V4.
History: The SAAB 96 two stroke was new in Sweden in 1962 and had a total of 8 owners including dealers. The story is that it was sold to a SAAB dealership in 2000 and they started a restoration of the car. But it was left standing there for 15 years before coming back on the road. In the wonderful condition you see it today. It is best described as a SAAB 96 two-stroke in nice daily drivers condition. Something that can be used and have fun with. A few deviations from original to make it more drivable and safer. I love these early SAAB 96 cars since they are a lot of fun to drive. No, they not exactly fast, but it certainly feels fast when you are driving it. And the aerodynamic shape is very cool.
