Vehicle Overview
Porsche 993 Targa for sale
Produced between 1994 and 1998, the 993 generation is revered as the final, finest iteration of the air-cooled Porsche 911. Over its production run, the model evolved with key mechanical enhancements – most notably the introduction of the VarioRam intake system in 1996 for improved mid-range torque. For the 993, Porsche completely reengineered the Targa concept, replacing the removable lift-off roof panel with an innovative, power-sliding panoramic glass system that seamlessly preserved the coupe’s iconic profile. Manual-transmission 993 Targas are exceptionally rare and highly sought after by collectors. This particular C2 Targa is an original EU-delivered car presented with a desirable manual gearbox, low mileage, a striking factory color combination, and comprehensive service documentation.
Exterior: The exterior of this Porsche 993 Targa presents exceptionally well in its factory-original, highly sought-after Aventura Green Metallic (L39R) – a subtle shade that gracefully shifts toward a deep metallic grey depending on the lighting. The body condition is great, featuring straight panels, zero dents, and virtually no stone chips. The car sits on its original Cup-style alloy wheels. As a 993 Targa, it features the sliding glass roof system that provides an open-air driving experience without disrupting the classic 911 silhouette.
Interior: Inside, the cabin reflects the car's careful ownership and low mileage. The interior is finished in full black Ruffleder (draped leather) , a premium factory option offering thicker, more supple hide than the standard leather. The original black carpeting remains in excellent condition throughout. All interior equipment functions as intended, including the electric windows, power seats, air conditioning, and the sliding panoramic glass roof mechanism. For modern convenience, the audio system has been updated to a retro-style Blaupunkt unit with contemporary functionality like Bluetooth streaming.
Engine & Mechanics: Mechanically, this 993 Targa is in superb health. The engagement of the rare 6-speed manual gearbox and the response of the 285 hp 3.6L VarioRam air-cooled engine reflect its low mileage. The car benefits from an extensive maintenance history carried out by Porsche specialists as follows:
Major Engine-Out Service (2019): Carried out by a renowned specialist, this comprehensive service included a new complete clutch assembly, replacement crankshaft and primary shaft seals, new left and right camshaft housing gaskets, and upper valve cover gaskets with new hardware. The ignition system was thoroughly overhauled with new spark plug wires, 12 new spark plugs, distributor caps, and rotors. The front suspension received new control arm bushings followed by a four-wheel alignment. Cosmetically, the engine tinware was removed and powder-coated, and new headlight lenses, indicator lenses, and windshield seals were fitted.
Fuel System Maintenance (2020): Installation of a new fuel pump, tank filter, and DME relay.
Targa Roof Service (2021): Overhaul and repair of the Targa roof drive mechanism, including replacement cable and guide rails.
Recent Main-Dealer Maintenance (Summer 2025): Serviced at an official Porsche Centre, which included fresh transmission fluid and brake fluid flushes.
History & Documentation: This Porsche 993 Targa was delivered new in June 1997 via Verkoop Porsche in the Netherlands. It remained in the Netherlands under careful enthusiast ownership until being imported to Sweden in 2022. The vehicle is accompanied by an extensive history file confirming its provenance and maintenance history.
It comes complete with all original books, including the fully stamped service book, both original keys, the factory tool kit, original jack, and tire compressor. Additional documentation includes service invoices, historical Dutch inspection/mileage reports (RDW), and an official Porsche Geburtsurkunde (Certificate of Authenticity) verifying that the car retains its original, matching-numbers engine and in its correct factory color combination.
