Vehicle Overview
Austin Healey 100/4 BN1 for sale
The Austin Healey 100/4 was produced from 1953 until 1956. It was developed by Donald Healey and based on the A90 Atlantic. The car was built by Jensen Motors and named the Austin Healey 100. The model name "100" was chosen because the car could reach 100 miles per hour. The first model of the Austin Healey 100 was called the BN1, and that is the car we have for sale here.
Exterior: The exterior of this Austin Healey is painted in a striking red over black. This 100 BN1 model has also been tastefully modified to achieve a more "racy" appearance. These modifications include front and rear bumper removal, extra lights, headlight mesh, and slightly wider-than-original chrome wire-spoke wheels. The front windshield of this car has also been modified to be set in a "middle" position between fully raised and fully lowered. This creates a cool aesthetic while keeping the windshield functional when driving. All of these modifications have been carried out properly and are fully reversible. The car comes with its original bumpers, which are in great condition. The overall condition of the car's exterior is good. The paint has a great finish, with a few marks from use but generally in very good condition. Panel gaps are also good, as are the chrome trim pieces.
Interior: Inside the Austin Healey 100, the racing theme continues. The original seats have been replaced with a nice pair of black leather bucket seats for additional support and comfort. Additionally, four-point harnesses have been added for safety. The car also features a classic stopwatch for that rally aesthetic. Again, all original parts remain with the vehicle, including two original black leather seats with red piping, which are in good condition. The condition of the interior is great, with fairly new carpeting. Some weathering can be seen on the dial of the speedometer. The car is also accompanied by a tonneau cover, its original soft top, and original side windows.
Engine and Mechanics: This Austin Healey 100 BN1 is fitted with the Le Mans package, indicated by a small "M" in the grille. This package includes larger carburetors, a cold air box, a high-performance cam, and 8.1:1 compression ratio pistons. Together, these upgrades increase the car's power to 110 hp. Other upgrades include disc brakes on the front axle for added ease of maintenance. Despite these modifications, the car retains its original 3-speed gearbox. But if you're worried this won't be enough, don't worry. The gearbox has great gearing, and the engine offers good torque. Paired with the overdrive, this makes for a very usable car. The car is great to drive; it doesn't have too much power, but you can really tell it's a light car, and the handling is excellent. The car has also proven its reliability, as it recently embarked on a journey from Norway to the south of Sweden without a hiccup.
