BMW M5 E39 for sale
The E39 BMW M5, introduced at the 1998 Geneva Motor Show, represents a significant evolution in the M5 lineage, being the first model to feature a V8 engine—the formidable 4.9-liter S62. This power plant delivers 400 PS (294 kW) and 500 Nm of torque, enabling the sedan to achieve a 0-60 mph time of 4.8 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. The E39 M5 also incorporates advanced features such as an aluminum-intensive suspension system and a six-speed manual transmission. Produced from 1999 to 2003, the E39 M5 is on its way to becoming a true collector’s car.
Exterior: This BMW E39 M5 is painted in the iconic Avus Blue Metallic, a color that was renamed Le Mans Blue in 2000. At some point in its life, the car underwent a full respray to maintain its appearance. Today, the paintwork is in a presentable condition, though not perfect. The car sits on the original Style 65 wheels, which are in perfect condition and fitted with quality tires. These wheels truly set the car apart from a standard 5 Series. The E39’s body has aged like fine wine and still looks great today, perfectly showcasing what the M5 should be—classy, understated, and powerful!
Interior: The interior of this E39 M5 features classic and simple black leather, which is soft and free of tears or split seams, though it does show some light scratches. The car is equipped with wood trim in excellent condition, a Hi-Fi speaker system, and a rear window curtain. The seats in this BMW M5 are a joy to sit in, offering great comfort and exceptional electrical adjustability. All cabin features are in working order. A notable flaw in the interior is a slight pixel fault in the display of the gauge cluster.
Engine and Mechanics: This is where the E39 M5 truly shines. It’s powered by the brilliant S62 naturally aspirated V8 engine, with a displacement of 4.9 liters and producing just shy of 400 horsepower. The engine has a broad powerband, providing both torque for ease of use and great power throughout the higher rev ranges. The six-speed manual transmission is smooth and pleasant to use, and the car also benefits from a freshly rebuilt head.
History and Documentation: This BMW E39 M5 is truly unique, having had only one owner since new. It was sold new in Kristianstad, Sweden, and has remained with its owner in southern Sweden since 1999. The car has been properly serviced and comes with all its original books and two keys. The car is also accompanied by extensive paperwork. This includes original warranty papers, servicing records, MOT papers and more.
