Exterior: The 1953 Mercedes 300 Adenauer Convertible looks absolutely stunning driving down the road. The beige top and interior make a great contrast to the maroon outside colour. The car was never used much after the recent repaint. The convertible top is new and has great stretch to it. All of the chrome pieces have been re-plated and are in like new condition. From every angle you look, this is a very striking car! The underneath has been completely cleaned and then painted with a stone guard paint.
Interior: For me, it is wonderful to see that the inside of the Mercedes 300 Convertible has been more about preservation that restoration. The wood panels were completely refurbished, but the rest of the interior is original. The soft leather was treated and coloured. Looks wonderful, and still showing the age of almost 70 years! The instrumentation in a Mercedes 300 Convertible is very detailed with lots of small switches and levers in chrome. This car has a very nice old radio in the centre of the dashboard. Even the sun visors are chrome plated. And, it is all these details that add up to the luxurious feeling of stepping into the W186 300 Convertible.
Engine: The Mercedes 3l straights six with two carburettors have recently been rebuilt (20.000km ago). It now starts easily and runs nicely. Normal sounds from gearbox and final drive. Good brakes and overall in a very good mechanical condition.
History: This Mercedes 300 Convertible was sold new here in Sweden back in 1953. It lived in the very northern parts of Sweden all the way up until 2005. More info available in regard to the history on request.
