De Tomaso Pantera L 1971 for sale
De Tomaso is one of those small automobile manufactures that were trying to make it during the sixties and seventies. Just like Iso and Monteverdi, they used American engines in their Italian styling. De Tomaso made the Pantera, Mangusta, Deauville, Longchamp and the little Vallelunga and I like most of them very much.
Exterior: This red De Tomaso Pantera for sale has nice paint with small traces of use over the years. As you can see in the pictures, it is today rolling on a set of chrome spoke wheels. We have other sets of wheel configurations to offer. Original and also a set of 17” Heritage wheels. It is an American Pantera that had a European bumper conversion. The Pantera has a very good panel fit and all details such as glass and lenses are in very good condition. The underneath has been painted black and there is no sign of any corrosion.
Interior: I think the interior in this classic Italian sportscar looks stunning. At some point, this De Tomaso Pantera had the seat upholstery done and they tastefully made it with a red seam to match the outside of the car. The dashboard, instruments and all switches are perfect, and all seems to be working. The Panteras pop up headlights also work nicely, just like the electric windows. When you take your De Tomaso Pantera on holiday, you have one larger tub in the back and a smaller compartment in the front. Considering where the engine is located you will want to put your groceries in the front. Both areas are nice and clean.
De Tomaso used American Ford V8 351 Cleveland
Engine: The Pantera 351 Ford Cleveland motor was a smart choice from De Tomaso. It gives great power and is very reliable. Parts are easy to find and very affordable even if you want to do some tuning on your engine. This De Tomaso Pantera for sale has a different carburettor and intake to give it a little bit more power. But also, this keeps the fuel consumption on very reasonable levels for a V8 engine from this era. Other upgrades are exhaust headers and a nice exhaust system to send off those wonderful tunes. To change headers, I think is one of the best upgrades you can do on a De Tomaso Pantera. The original restricts the flow very much and often leaks. The ZF gearbox is a perfect mate to the Ford V8 and it is one of the prettiest gearboxes ever built. And in a Pantera, you get a good view of it when you take out the tub in the back.
History: It left De Tomaso in Italy in 1971 heading for the States but was brought back to Europe in September 2016. It is today very much in the same state as it was when it arrived. It has been driven only on sunny days. Comes with a binder with collected documents over the years and a workshop manual.
