Market report 2013-04-18

The Techno Classica show in Essen Germany is one of the biggest classic car shows in the world. It was my 9th year in a row there for me and in the halls there were no signs of economic crises. There were plenty of “sold” signs already after the first day.

At Coys auctions on Saturday afternoon I would say the bidding was very spirited! In my opinion people paid far too much money for cars with questionable quality. With some negotiation there would have been better cars to be had in the halls from the dealers. People were phone bidding like crazy on this Iso Lele and the hammer price came to 15,000€

If you think it looks bad on top you should have seen what it looked like underneath! Coys mention in their catalog the car is “ripe for restoration” I would say it had gone rotten a long time ago and considering todays values of Lele cars the buyer will have to wait a long time before he will have his money back after an expensive restoration.

It felt like there were a lot of people visiting the show and among the crowds one could hear most of the European languages and even some Asians.

If you wanted to buy a Porsche 911 you could get it in any color of your preference.

My son Melvin found a nice Ferrari in his size, but unfortunately already sold!

This very nice Mercedes 190 SL was on the outside bargain market but could not sell even after price reduction from 109,000 to 99,000€. Despite the condition, it looked amazing and finished in the most attractive colors.

Thank you to all of our customers and friends that came to visit us during the show. There was a rumor that the fairgrounds are due for restoration and the show would be at another location next year.
